SERDANG 11 May 2022 – The Faculty of Engineering has received an official visit from Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan education delegation to discuss collaboration opportunities with UPM on academic and summer programs, staff and student exchange and research.
The delegation was headed by Ms. Almagul Kanagatova, Eurasian Center for People Management - Head of Educational Programs (Head representative from Kazakhstan) and Ms. Firuza Vakhabova, Leader School, Founder, President of The Private Education Association in Uzbekistan (Head representative from Uzbekistan). The delegation was accompanied by Ms Bayan, Managing Director Kaz Capital Sdn Bhd, which recruits students from Central Asia for Malaysian institutions. In total, the faculty received 30 members from both countries.
The main presentation was delivered by Profesor Ir. Dr. Mohd Khairol Anuar Mohd Ariffin, Dean Faculty of Engineering, UPM. The visit, which was held at the Engineer Conference Room, Faculty of Engineering, was joined by Profesor Ir. Dr. Hasfalina Che Man
Deputy Director, Putra International Centre (I-Putra), UPM; Dato Hj Rosdi Wah, Head Of Administration (Academic & International), UPM; and Faculty of Engineering Management Members, involved dialog sessions on academic programs, student mobility, and summer program.
Representatives from Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan also exchanged information on academic program management at their respective universities and industries. After the dialogues, the delegates visited The Laboratory of Robotic and Intelligent Technology, led by Assoc. Prof. Ir. Ts. Dr. Mohd. Khair Hassan, Head of Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, UPM, which included sharing autonomous system and robot development applications sessions. Prof. Wan Zuha Wan Hasan, the program's principal investigator, demonstrated the use of robots in the palm oil industry.
At the end of the program, representatives from both countries expressed their desire to further strengthen the relationship with UPM by signing the MoU in the upcoming future. Faculty of Engineering, UPM looks forward to and hopes this program will serve as a concrete step in fostering closer collaboration between UPM, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan. The session ended with the presentation of souvenirs from both parties and a photography session.
