Congratulations to Chia Ken Ling, a final year student from the Department of Chemical & Environmental Engineering, who won 1 st Runner-up at the 4th International Biotechnology Competition and Exhibition (IBCEx 2018), held on 13 th  -14 th  April 2018 at Dewan Sultan Iskandar, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), Johor Bahru. Her innovation tittled “Microalgae Cultivation using Carbon Quantum Dots’ under supervision of Dr. Razif Harun. Around 80 participants from various local and international institutions e.g. Malaysia, Indonesia, Brunei, Thailand were participated in IBCEx 2018.

IBCEx 2018 is an international innovation competition organized by Bioprocess Engineering Department, Faculty of Chemical and Energy Engineering (FCEE), UTM. This competition provides a great opportunity for students from various local and international institutions to compete and exhibit their creative innovations in biotechnology. This year team was “TOWARDS A GREEN AND SUSTAINABLE SOCIETY”, where the participants can choose and showcase their best innovation in healthcare and pharmaceuticals, fermentation technology, food and drinks innovations, energy and environment management, or any other types of innovation related to biotechnology.
