Jelebu: The Innovative and Creative Group (KIK) Fire and Rescue Station (BBDP) Simpang Pertang has successfully created a protective layer of uniforms from bamboo and kenaf known as Safety Bio Pad.

The creation won third place in the hybrid category in conjunction with the Malaysia Fire and Rescue Department Innovation Day Celebration held on 26 to 30 October 2018 .

Group Head of KIK BBDP Simpang Pertang, Fire Officer Irwan Hairul Shah Abd Hamid said the group was also accompanied by five students and lecturers, Dr. Norkhairunnisa Mazlan from the Department of Aerospace Engineering Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), Dr. Syeed Saiful Azry from the Forestry Institute of Tropical and Forest Products (INTROP), Natasha Ramli and Tay Chai Hua. "We took six months to create protective material for the knee, elbow and shoulders called Safety Bio-Pad.

"The idea of creating this protection arises because most rescuers are exposed to various dangers, especially in the three parts of the body, especially during the operation," he said when met here yesterday.
