Advanced Material Synthesis and Fabrication Laboratory (AMSF) UPM

Introduction
Advanced Material Synthesis and Fabrication Laboratory (AMSF) is a cleanroom located at Faculty of Engineering, UPM. It starts operating from October 2013.

AMSF cleanroom was built under special grant Research University scheme and it is comprises of three sections of class 100K for dry, wet activities and photolithography activity. The class will be upgraded in future based on the requirement.

About Us
AMSF comprises of three sections of ISO 8/ Class 100K for dry, wet activities and photolithography activity.
•Dry area is designed for device analysis and characterization.
•Wet area is designed for sample and device preparation and fabrication. This area includes a fumehood with deionized water (DI) and quick dump rinse facility.
•Photolithography area is designed for device lithography process, includes patterning, soft baked and hard baked. The hot plate and spin coating is located in laminar flow chamber for cleanness up to Class 1K.

Many academic members from different background and expertise use this laboratory. This certifies good meeting, increase networking and discussion among the experts. They work actively on different areas.

Among research areas are:
•Micro/nanosystems (MEMS/NEMS) and Sensors.
•Nanoelectronics, device fabrication and packaging
•Solar Cell and Photovoltaic Devices and Fabrication
•Flexible electronic devices
•New material synthesis and characterization
•Photonics Devices, Microfluidic and Optical Communication
The services offered by the cleanroom are for UPM researchers, UPM students and researchers at Klang Valley area with reasonable price.

Objectives
•To serve researchers to synthesis, fabricate and characterize microelectronic/nano material and devices.
•To perform the optical and electrical characterization of devices.
•To enable highly sensitive materials and components to be handled with great care since the wet room and cleanroom are in the same vicinity.

Services
The purpose of the cleanroom AMSF laboratory is to serve national researchers especially UPM researchers to fabricate devices and perform the characterization of devices using new technologies, approaches and equipment that are suitable. This cleanroom is a one-stop center for synthesis, fabrication, characterization and handling materials up to highly sensitive materials. It enables highly sensitive materials and components to be handled in a great care since the preparation, fabrication and characterization in the one facility.
