Faculty of Engineering UPM Organised the Engineering Career Development Day 2026 (ECD) 2026

Serdang, 13 May - The Faculty of Engineering, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), successfully organised the Engineering Career Development Day 2026 (ECD) 2026 on Wednesday, 13 May 2026, at the Foyer, Faculty of Engineering, UPM. The programme served as a strategic platform to connect students with industry representatives, alumni, and professional bodies, while enhancing career readiness and strengthening exposure to real-world engineering practices.

ECD 2026 featured 20 booths from leading companies and organisations across Malaysia and international-linked industries. The participating organisations represented a wide range of sectors, including manufacturing and packaging, agriculture and plantation technology, energy and engineering services, construction and infrastructure, food and industrial technology, as well as consultancy, certification, and education. Through these booths, students engaged with industry representatives on career opportunities, internship placements, and graduate employment pathways.

A highlight of the programme was the BEM @ ECD Talk titled “Inspiring the Next Generation of Engineers”, delivered by Laksamana Pertama (Retired) Dato’ Ir. Dr. Hj. Ahmad Murad Hj. Omar, Chairman of Corporate Communications, Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM). The session, held at Auditorium Jurutera Radin Umar, Faculty of Engineering, UPM, provided valuable insights into leadership, professionalism, career development, and the evolving role of engineers in a rapidly changing global landscape.

In addition, the event incorporated several interactive engagement activities, including the Chip-on-Wheels programme by SEMI Southeast Asia, the BEM counter, and the Graduan Aspire Career Roadshow. These initiatives provided students with exposure to industry technologies, professional registration processes, and broader career development opportunities. The event also featured 14 street food markets, offering a variety of food and beverage options for participants throughout the programme.

Overall, ECD 2026 successfully created a dynamic platform for students to explore career pathways, interact with industry professionals, and gain meaningful exposure to the engineering sector. The programme reflects the Faculty of Engineering’s continuous commitment to strengthening university–industry collaboration and producing competent, innovative, and future-ready graduates.
