Serdang, 28 September 2022 - Research Equipment Maintenance and Calibration Committee (JKPKPP), Office of the Deputy Dean of Research and Innovation, Faculty of Engineering has held a Workshop on Oven and Micropipette Verification for the Requirements of Calibrated Procedures and Equipment Verification, Faculty of Engineering.  External calibration. This is because the officer in charge of the laboratory was found to be incompetent to carry out the activity while the oven and micropipette were not approved for external calibration.

The verification process is an activity that is carried out using a standard or calibrated tool to ensure that the tool provides a good reading range. This verification process helps the life of the tool and ensures that the measured values are accurate and accurate.

A total of 19 participants comprising officers in charge of the laboratory and chemistry and committee members were involved in the workshop at the Public Health Laboratory, Department of Civil Engineering. The Faculty of Engineering would like to thank Puan Norhaszalina Md. Isa from the Institute of Biosciences for her willingness to share her knowledge and expertise in the field of oven and micropipe verification with the faculty.

The workshop is divided into 3 sections, namely knowledge sharing, verification demo and verification implementation conducted in the laboratory for one day. Participants were given awareness of the need for verification and gained knowledge on how to verify according to the standards set.

Finally, it is the committee's hope that the objectives of the workshop implementation can be achieved, namely Understanding the importance of oven and micropipette verification, Learning the methods of conducting oven and micropipette verification, Ensuring that officials in the laboratory have the competence to carry out the verification of ovens and micropipettes in accordance with the requirements of MS ISO 9001:2015 and Ensure that ovens and micropipettes in the laboratory are verified.
