SMK King George V and UPM collaboration won the National Champion for Land Rover 4x4 in Schools 2018
Department of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering (KMP), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) was involved with high impact community project with our cluster school, SMK King George V (SMK KGV). Recently, the 4x4 in Schools team, namely Vincera emerged victorious in the Land Rover 4x4 In Schools National Finals 2018. The event was held from 29 - 30th September 2018 at Axiata Arena, Bukit Jalil. The team also won the Best Social Media Usage Award. Team Vincera consists of one teacher and six students from SMK KGV as well as five lecturers acting as advisor to the the project from UPM.
The collaboration between SMK KGV and UPM started in 2015 participating for F1 design competition. In recent years, the team has shifted to participate in the Land Rover 4x4 in Schools competition where last year the team, Incitron won the 4th position, the Best Portfolio & Pit Display Award as well as the Best Research & Development Award.
Under the guidance and coaching from Dr. Azizan As'arry, Dr. Abdul Aziz Hairuddin, Dr. Khairil Anas Md. Rezali, Dr. Che Nor Aiza Jaafar and Dr. Eris Elianddy Supeni, the team has successfully achieved the national champion this year. The lecturers assisted the team in aspects like Arduino Software, Computer Aided Design (CAD) and Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) . The team will be representing Malaysia for the Land Rover 4x4 in Schools World Final competition in United Kingdom April 2019.
