Serdang, September 6, 2019 - Department of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering of the Universiti Putra Malaysia was hosting a Certificate Appreciation Ceremony for the SMK King George V-UPM Collaboration Project, today. The department has been involved with the high-impact community project with the school cluster, SMK King George V (SMK KGV) since 2015. In 2017, the team, Incitron, with the supervision from lecturers in the department, won 4th place in the national competition as well as awards for the best portfolio, pit display and best research & development. In the following year 2018, Vincera won the national title in the Land Rover 4x4 in School Challenge 2018 which was held at the Axiata Arena, Bukit Jalil. Most recently on April 14, 2019, Vincera, representing Malaysia, won second place in the International Land Rover 4x4 In School World Final 2019 at the University of Warwick United Kingdom.

With this great achievement and excellence, the department has organized this event to celebrate the success of these young people and for those involved. The KGV SMK Principal, Mr Haji Roslin Basir, Senior Curriculum Assistant, Ms. Rozana Radzi, project advisor Mrs. Gan Bin Hoon and Vincera student team attended the event.

Also present at the event were Prof. Dr. Nor Kamariah Noordin, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Dr. Mus’ab Abd Razak, Head of HEPA, Dr. Mohd Zuhri Mohamed Yusoff ,  Head of Network and Community Industry Unit, Head of Department, Assoc.Prof. Dr. Zulkiflle Leman and the lecturers who are also UPM technical advisors, Prof. Dr. Abdul Aziz Hairuddin, Dr. Azizan A'sarry, Dr. Che Nor Aiza Jaafar, Dr. Khairil Anas Md Rezali and Dr. Eris Elliandy Supeni.

The event began with a lunch at the Engineers' Conference Room, Faculty of Engineering, UPM. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Abdul Aziz Hairuddin as Chief Technical Advisor started the ceremony with his speech and praise to the bravery displayed by the team who continued to work hard to achieve this great success. The event continued with a montaj showing the collaboration between SMK KGV and UPM since 2015. The school principal, Tuan Haji Roslin Basir who is also an UPM alumni also spoke on behalf of SMK KGV and praise the brilliant children and thier achievement.

The ceremony was officiated by Prof. Dr. Nor Kamariah Noordin, Dean of the Engineering Faculty. A total of 5 students and an advisor from the Vincera team came to receive certificates from UPM namely Mrs. Gan Bin Hoon, Dinie Harees Norazlan, Goh Yen Theng, Selvi Hong and Aliqa Azreena Amirudin. Najwa Insyirah Mohd Yusoff was unable to attend the event. In addition, the Dean also presented a certificate of appreciation to UPM's technical advisory team for the efforts and mentorship given to SMK King George since 2015 until they have achieved outstanding success this year.

As a token of remembrance, Associate Prof. Dr Zulkiflle Leman, Head of the KMP Department presented a souvenir to SMK King George V, Seremban. The ceremony concluded with a photo session in front of the faculty's main mural.
