Shiga, 27 April – The Putrabot team from the Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) Robotics Club made history at the global level by winning two major victories at the RoboCup Japan Open 2026 which took place from 24 to 27 April in Shiga, Japan.
Under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Wan Zuha Wan Hasan, the team managed to win First Place in the Open Challenge category and Third Place in the Bridge Competition. This success reflects the technical excellence and high spirit of innovation possessed by 11 students across various departments in the Faculty of Engineering and the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology, UPM.
International collaboration with Prof. Hakaru Tamukoh from the Kyushu Institute of Technology (KYUTECH) was the main catalyst through strategic technical support. Apart from Prof. Dr. Wan Zuha Wan Hasan, the dedicated advisory team includes Ir. Ts. Dr. Hafiz Rashidi Harun @ Ramli, Ts. Dr. Nor Mohd Haziq Norsahperi, Prof. Ir. Dr. Norhafiz Azis, and En. Congratulations to the Putrabot team for their success, which not only brings honor to UPM, but also strengthens Malaysia's position in the global robotics field.
