Mechanical Engineering Curriculum Sustainability Discussion with Industry Panel

Serdang, 17 January 2023- The Department of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering, Faculty of Engineering has held the Industry Advisory Panel Meeting (IAP) 1/2023, Bachelor of Engineering Programme Mechanical with Honours today at the Engineers Courtroom, Level 1, Faculty of Engineering. The meeting was attended by seven industry advisors, namely Ir. Dr. Murad Zainal Abidin from Pusat Kecemerlangan dan Teknologi JKR (CREaTE). Mr. Khairul Azli Khalid from Vestigo Petroleum Sdn Bhd, Mr. Azman Samhan Daud from Jalur Cahaya Sdn Bhd, Mr. Izhar Hadafi from Yeo Hiap Seng (Malaysia), Mr. Khairul Syazwali Taib from Hitachi Sunway Information Systems Sdn. Bhd., Mr. Khusairi Subki Kamarudin from Petronas Gas Berhad and Ir. Mohamad Farid Hj Mustfa dari Petroliam Nasional Berhad (PETRONAS) other than department members.

 

The Joint Meeting of the Industry Advisory Panel discussed specifically in the formulation and improvement of the curriculum of the teaching and learning system of undergraduate level programs as well as other areas that have been identified to meet the requirements of Engineering Accreditation. In addition, through this meeting, it promotes continuous interaction, collaboration, networking or strategic relationship between the Faculty and the industry.

 

The meeting began with a curriculum discussion with department heads, coordinators and academic officers in the department, Next, a visit to Thinker Space 2.0 before to five laboratories namely the Control and Instrumentation Systems Laboratory, Dynamic & Vibration Laboratory, Manufacturing and Automation Technology Laboratory, Fluid Mechanics Laboratory, Thermodynamic Laboratory, and concluded with the Embedded Systems Engineering Laboratory, UPM-NI.

 

Through this meeting, the department was able to achieve its objectives through discussions in updating the curriculum of the teaching and learning system of bachelor's level programs to be in line with the needs of the industry and to produce quality engineers and meet industry standards.
