Chemical Engineering Students Society (ChESS)

The department receives between 50 and 70 new students (both local and international) annually. Students in the program automatically become members of the Chemical Engineering Student Society (ChESS). ChESS serves as the student representative body, addressing matters related to student activities and welfare.

Specific objectives of ChESS are as follows:

To connect students with other departments, faculties, universities and communities through social activities
To encourage students to practice engineering disciplines with their peers
To encourage bigger involvements outside class hours

ChESS is advised by the Students Affairs and Alumni Coordinator (Dr. Mohamad Faiz Mukhtar Gunam Resul):

To advise and guide ChESS committee
To assist in the planning of ChESS activities
To oversee ChESS activities

ChESS has organized several industrial visits and professional talks, often featuring experts and alumni, throughout the year. These activities aim to expose students to current practices, skills, and state-of-the-art process equipment in the chemical industry. Below is a list of activities organized by ChESS in 2022-2023. Additionally, ChESS members have participated in various national-level competitions, such as the IEM Design Competition and the INNOSIM Design Competition, where they achieved notable success.
