CIVIL OF ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT 30th ALUMNI DINNER

Serdang, August 19 - Year 2015 has marked the completion of 30 years establishment of the Department of Civil Engineering, Universiti Putra Malaysia. In conjunction with the celebration, the department organized a dinner with their alumni on August 19, 2016. The anniversary celebration was held at the Foyer of the Faculty of Engineering, UPM to provide opportunities to alumni meeting each other, sharing experiences and create a good netwrking relationship among themselves. The ceremony which began at 8 pm has been managed by a 47 member committee comprising the staff and assisted by the Department of Civil Engineering Civil Engineering Student Club members, (CESC). For this occasion, Prof. Ir. Dr. Raizal Saifulnaz bin Muhammad Rashid, head of the department is also patron while Dr. Syazwani bt. Idrus as the Program Director.

There were more than 200 alumni including the first group of students (graduating in 1985), the staff of the Department of Civil Engineering, including academic, technical and administrative, as well as the retired staff. This glorious ceremony was also graced by the presence of former Head of the Department of Civil Engineering, Ir. Dr. Syed Mansor, Prof. Dato' Ir. Abang Abdullah, Prof. Ir. Megat Johari, Prof Dato 'Ir. Dr. Mohd Saleh, and Prof. Prof. Dr. Abdul Halim. In this event, the first former head, Ir. Dr. Junid Syed Syed Mansor was honored to officiate the ceremony.

Besides this dinner, there was also an official launching of the 30 years Department Book comprises of the department's histories, achievements and excellence. According to the Head of Department, all alumni are an important aspect in making this a successful event and they contribute to the establishment of civil engineering UPM Alumni Chapter.

In conjunction with this 30th celebration, they also aim to serve this gathering as a platform to strengthened the strategic relationship between alumni and current staff. In addition, to support the aspirations of the Putra Global 200 (PG200) of Universiti Putra Malaysia which aim to be listed in the top 200 universities of the world in 2020, they expected to preserve this relationship. It is hoped that such programs will be annually organized in the future to ensure good relations between the department and the alumni can be strengthened.
