PENGENALAN

Wireless and Photonics Networks Research Centre (WiPNET), UPM adalah salah sebuah pusat penyelidikan unggul dalam bidang rangkaian komunikasi di Malaysia. Bertempat di Universiti Putra Malaysia, WIPNET telah ditubuhkan pada tahun 2009 dengan tumpuan penyelidikan, perundingan dan pendidikan  dalam teknologi komunikasi wayarles dan fotonik. Kecemerlangan WiPNET terbukti dengan pengiktirafan sebagai Pusat Kecemerlangan Teknologi Sensor (NEST) oleh Kementerian Tenaga, Air dan Komunikasi Malaysia.

 

Kekuatan penyelidikan WiPNET merangkumi keseluruhan elemen rangkaian komunikasi bermula daripada bahan penderiaan, nod penderiaan sehingga ke pembangunan sistem. Pasukan penyelidik WiPNET telah menghasilkan penyelidikan yang berimpak dalam bidang bahan nano, peranti fiber optik, peranti gelombang mikro, penderia dan pemancaran serta termasuk rangkain wayarles dan fotonik.

 

WiPNET mempunyai 2 makmal utama dengan kemudahan fabrikasi, pengujian dan pengukuran peralatan didalam bidang wayarles dan fotonik. Sebanyak lebih daripada 280 artikel telah diterbitkan di Jurnal terulung dengan hampir 14,000 sitasi dihasilkan oleh penyelidik WiPNET dalam tempoh 5 tahun terakhir. WiPNET juga telah melahirkan seramai 57 pelajar pasca ijazah yang terdiri daripada 40 pelajar PhD serta 17 Master. Disamping itu seramai 145 pelajar pasca ijazah sedang menjalankan penyelidikan dalam bidang berkaitan rangkaian di WiPNET. WiPNET juga mempunyai rangkaian yang kuat bersama pihak industri, agensi kerajaan serta Univiersiti lain samada di peringkat tempatan atau antarabangsa. Pelbagai projek perintis yang bernilai jutaan ringgit telah dijalankan antaranya, pertanian pintar, kesihatan, pemantauan cerun dan alam sekitar, pemantauan stuktur, pengesanan produk halal dan lain-lain aplikasi industri.

Menjadi pusat penyelidikan bertaraf dunia serta menyumbang kepada komuniti didalam bidang teknologi komunikasi

  2. Menghasilkan penyelidik kelas dunia didalam bidang kajian
  3. Menubuhkan makmal penyelidikan dengan kemudahan terkini
  4. Menjalinkan hubungan penyelidikan antarabangsa
  5. Menyumbang kearah penghasilan pelan strategi kebangsaan dan penghasilan polisi berkaitan
  6. Perkongsian hasil penyelidikan bersama komuniti
