PENGENALAN

Sustainable Process Engineering (SPE) adalah pendekatan multidisiplin dan relevan kepada pelbagai sektor perindustrian. Ia memberi impak kepada setiap langkah dalam pengeluaran, pembuatan dan penggunaan bahan dan bahan baku kimia serta pemulihan dan pembuangan sampah. Bahan pemprosesan mampan memerlukan pemahaman yang luas tentang proses kimia, dan tenaga dan utiliti yang diperlukan untuk menyokongnya. Ia termasuk pembangunan teknologi proses masa depan, penggunaan sumber alternatif atau laluan reaksi baru, dan reka bentuk dan pengendalian sistem supaya mereka menggunakan tenaga dan sumber secara lebih mampan.

 

Matlamat keseluruhan SPERC memberi tumpuan kepada pendekatan keseluruhan sistem boleh menyokong pemahaman mengenai aspek-aspek alam sekitar, keselamatan, ekonomi, sosial dan kemapanan teknologi dan proses baru, dan boleh merangkumi keseluruhan pengurusan kitaran hayat produk, penggunaan semula bahan dan pengurangan sisa. Dengan menerapkan pemahaman sistem, dasar dan campur tangan dapat diterokai yang akan menyokong membenamkan teknologi lestari dalam sistem yang ada pada skala yang berlainan (organisasi tunggal, tempatan dan nasional).

 

Bidang khusus penyelidikan merangkumi pelbagai aktiviti seperti penggunaan bahan mentah yang boleh diperbaharui; pembangunan laluan novel untuk pengeluaran bahan kimia (iaitu penggunaan pemangkinan dan pemangkin bio, penukaran biojisim dan penapisan bio, pengukuhan proses, nanoteknologi, dan pembangunan tenaga karbon yang boleh diperbaharui dan rendah) dan memberi penekanan kepada kebolehpercayaan industri (reka bentuk, pemodelan, pengoptimuman dan kawalan). Ia juga termasuk penilaian tentang kelestarian produk dan proses dari segi kajian alam sekitar, sosial dan ekonomi. sedang membangunkan proses yang lebih baru, hijau dan lebih cekap untuk pelbagai aplikasi. Menyedari sektor pertanian sebagai sektor utama utama di Malaysia, memastikan penukaran bahan-bahan ini secara ekonomi, lestari alam sekitar dan sosial adalah tumpuan utama pusat penyelidikan yang dicadangkan. Dengan pelbagai disiplin pasukan pakar bersepadu yang menarik pakar bersama-sama dari kejuruteraan kimia, alam sekitar, dan kejuruteraan komputer yang menggabungkan sumber dan kemahiran mereka untuk memenuhi cabaran industri dan persekitaran milenium baru, SPERC boleh menjadi salah satu bidang tumpuan dalam mengukuhkan aktiviti penyelidikan dan produktiviti di Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM).

MISI

  • Untuk membangunkan hubungan dengan pihak berkepentingan utama seperti kerajaan, komuniti, bukan kerajaan (NGO) dan industri untuk membangunkan strategi untuk penerapan penyelidikan asas dan aplikasi dalam bidang cadangan bidang khusus.
  • Untuk memperkukuh rangkaian penyelidikan di universiti, komuniti & industri melalui pelbagai kerjasama, projek, geran penyelidikan dan perundingan di dalam dan luar negara

 

  • Untuk merancang dan menjana aktiviti penyelidikan dan perundingan yang berfungsi antara universiti, industri & komuniti, maka impak yang lebih besar melalui simbiosis ini

 

  • Membangunkan para ulama dan pakar yang berwibawa yang selaras dengan status UPM sebagai universiti utama dalam bidang khusus.
